Dear Gigers,

Many of you have been asking about our meetings and their times, so we decided to send this email with all our current meetings in GIG, what they are for and their times.

Meet the Members

It is our Monthly come together where new members introduce themselves to the Network, and older ones are there to exchange. It is a platform that can be used by all members to tell their latest updates, ask for support when needed, laugh and exchange as if we are hanging out on the banks of the spree in Berlin.

Time: It happens on the last Wednesday of the month at one week at 14:00 CESTĀ  and then at 16:30 CEST

Community Talks

GIG community talks are a newly developed format where interested GIG members gather to discuss specific themes and are typically initiated when members express interest in a common topic. These talks are primarily of interest to a certain group in the Network and are facilitated by our team. Some of these talks develop into working groups and occur across different episodes. Examples of currently ongoing Community Talk is the Business Model for Makerspaces, Meta Discussion: Managing Networks..etc.

Please feel free to suggest community talks as well!

Time: no fixed time; they are usually announced on a rolling basis. Insider tip, we try to hold on the 14:00 CET on Wednesdays slot for GIG community events ;)

GIG Team Meeting

GIG's team has been working as a remote /hybrid team for some years. With team members living in Latin America, Africa, and Europe, the team and the executive board come together once a week to update each other on our tasks and to-dos for the week. To keep our organisation as transparent as possible, we share a weekly link on the mailing list so members can drop by and listen to what is happening. Members can also share if they have urgent matters that must be communicated to the team.

Time: Every Monday at noon (12:00) CET

Supervisory Board Meeting

GIG elects a supervisory Board every two years from its members, who come together four times a year to work on the organisational strategy tied to concrete review activities. Activities include annual report review, fundraising and team and project review. This is an excellent opportunity for members to join to learn more about what is happening in GIG in-depth and even share their knowledge and opinion with the Executive board. You can read more about GIG's different bodies and their roles in our Live Governance Document .

Time: Quarterly; the exact date for this year will be shared soon. Next and first of this year, one will happen on the 14th of Feb at 13:00 CET.

General Assembly

The General Assembly includes all active members of the association (members who filled in the form) with one vote. It takes place at least once in the calendar year. The General Assembly, as the supreme decision-making body, is, in principle, responsible for all tasks. You can learn more in theĀ  Articles of Association.

In certain circumstances, we hold an exceptional GA, mainly if we are gathering physically and want to use this opportunity to hold a GA, like what happened last June after re:publica.

Time: End of the Year and the exact date is communicated at least two weeks in advance
